CALLING ALL WARRIOR MOMS!
It’s official! Postpartum Progress’ Climb Out Of The Darkness 2016 is finally underway and I need your help to make it a massive success for moms here in Regina!
This will be my 3rd year leading our Regina Climb and I want to take things to a whole new level! That’s why I am putting out an OPEN CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS this year so we can work together and plan an amazing event!!! I want to reach as many new moms as we possibly can so they can realize they are not alone and there is most definitely help! As a PPD survivor myself, I know how powerful and healing it can be to join moms and grow the conversation surrounding maternal mental health.
Postpartum Progress is not just a website, it’s not just a blog, it’s not just free information but it is COMMUNITY of moms just like you and me who are working together to break down barriers and stomp out stigma that surrounds PPD/Anxiety. Last year this amazing community was able to help thousands of mothers and raise an outstanding $240,000!!!! How did we do this? We took little steps. We talked to people around us, we shared our stories, we delivered info to Dr’s, hospitals, community organizations and we supported each other every step of the way! Check out the 2015 Impact Report to see where that money went!
Here’s a little more info about our climb:
Postpartum Progress’ Climb Out of the Darkness® is the world’s largest event raising awareness of maternal mental illnesses like postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety & OCD, postpartum PTSD, postpartum psychosis, bipolar/peripartum onset, and pregnancy depression and anxiety. Climb Out of the Darkness is held on or near the longest day of the year annually to help shine the most light on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. The event features mothers and others across the globe joining together to climb mountains and hike trails to represent their symbolic rise out of the darkness of maternal mental illness and into the light of hope and recovery. We can’t wait for Climb Out of the Darkness 2016, to be held Saturday, June 18th. Mark your calendars! Help us shine the light of hope with our words and our advocacy efforts so that our fellow mothers will receive better information and better treatment, and their new families will get off to the healthy and strong start they deserve.
Team Regina will be Climbing Out Of The Darkness® on Saturday June 18th at 2:00. We will be starting at the Wascana Bandstand followed by a walk around the lake!
Please join me in organizing this year’s Climb! Every mom matters and every tiny bit of support helps! I would love to hear your story and celebrate your personal “Climb” together on June 18th! Contact me today for details or join our working group Climb Out Team Regina Volunteers on Facebook!
Here’s my little Warrior Baby Ellie, who is the strongest most independant and loving little girl I know! She climbed all the way up the hill by herself last year and her strength inspires me every day!
It’s going to be an amazing day ladies!!! Let’s go! #Climbout
